THE MANCHESTER POETRY
BUSK.
On Saturday June 9th 2007 for the first time in 600 years, a single solitary poet, (myself) will perform in the style of a traveling street bard, busking in the city centre of Manchester in the hope of an appreciative audience and some money. All poems performed will be suitable for family audiences.
Having secured permission from Manchester City Council, I shall be appearing in St. Anne’s Square, between Starbucks and the St. Anne’s Arcade between 10 AM and 4 to 5 PM. I have about 30-35 poems so if you stay around for a while you won’t hear me repeat myself.
.In the event that some other, more musically motivated busker or other street activist has claimed my desired space, I shall be found in the Town Hall square in front of the main entrance to the Town Hall. If that spot is also claimed I shall migrate to Market Street near to Aldi and Carphone Warehouse.
In the event of rain I shall move to Market street, under the tunnel over the road which supports the food hall near Boots.
If the event proves to be successful, my appearances in the city centre will become more frequent, possibly daily, so watch this space for updates on how things turn out.
If anyone should happen to film the event, and post anything on Youtube, do let me know so I can link to the footage.
